LISTSERV Instructions

To subscribe to a list follow these instructions:

(a) Log into your mail program.

(b) Send a message to listserv@list.nova.edu

(c) In the body of the message, put:

 subscribe listname YourFirstName YourLastName

 “YourFirstName YourLastName” refers to your first and last name.  “listname” refers to the name of the list, which will be provided for you by your instructor.

 Please note: you should delete everything else from the message prior to sending it. You will receive a confirmation once the list has accepted your subscription.

 To unsubscribe from a list follow these instructions:

(a) Log into your mail program.

(b) Send a message to listserv@list.nova.edu

(c) In the body of the message, put:

 unsubscribe listname

 Please note: you should delete everything else from the message prior to sending it. You will receive a confirmation once the list has accepted your deletion request. Also you must send your deletion request from the same account you used to send the subscribe request.

 

           

 

 


 

 

To send a message to the entire list:

(a) Compose a message to listname@list.nova.edu

(b) Include a subject line and message body in their regular locations just as you would a normally message.

 Your message will be processed and sent to the entire list within minutes.

 Ways you can make a mistake:

(1)   By putting spaces between the class name. 

a.     Correct example: FILM20002D1

b.     Incorrect example: FILM 2000 2D1

(2)   By putting an “e” in listserv.

a.     Correct example: listserv@list.nova.edu

b.     Incorrect example: listserve@list.nova.edu

(3)   Not putting spaces in the appropriate places:

a.     Correct example:

subscribe FILM20002D1Jackie Chan

b.     Incorrect example:

subscribe FILM20002D1JackieChan
