BIOSKETCH
Dr. Jane Whitney Gibson is a Professor
of Management at Nova Southeastern University's Wayne Huizenga Graduate
School of Business and Entrepreneurship. . Dr. Gibson teaches organizational
behavior, management, organizational communication, organizational theory,
and related subjects at the bachelors, masters, and doctorate levels. She
is active in the Academy of Management where she has served as national
Chair of the Management History Division and is currently the Director
of Membership. Author of three college-level textbooks, Dr.
Gibson does most of her research and writing in the areas of organizational
communication. leadership, and supervision. She has recently been
named Editor of NSU's "Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship"
and is Book Review Editor of "The Journal of Leadership Studies." Other
research interests include distance education and teaching of adult students.
Recent articles include, "A Conversation with Leadership Guru, Paul Hersey,"
co-authored with Charles W. Blackwell and appearing in the Spring, 1998
issue of "The Journal of Leadership Studies" and "Management History Gurus
of the 90s: Their Lives, Their Contributions" which appeared in "The Journal
of Management History." More recently, Gibson published "Flying
High with Herb Kelleher: A Case Study in Charismatic Leadership" in "The
Journal of Leadership Studies." Gibson serves on the Editorial Boards
of "The Journal of International Public Administration," "The Journal of
Management History," "The SAM Advanced Management Journal," and "The Journal
of Leadership Studies." Gibson is also an Affiliate of The Center
for Leadership Studies in Escondido, California which provides Situational
Leadership training around the world under the auspices of leadership scholar,
Paul Hersey.
